COACH OUTINGS |

We have coach outings twice a year (one in the spring and another in the autumn) to a variety of destinations, anything from 20 to 100 miles away from our base camp. The price of tickets is moderate, and kept as low as possible, since these are non-profit making day-trips - the objective is to break even. The party usually splits up into two groups - those who wish to go on a walk (usually no more than 6 miles) and those who prefer to "do their own thing" and visit a place of interest - it may be a stately home or a historic town.
In recent years, to the north-east, we have visited Colchester, Cambridge, Ipswich, Aldeburgh and Southwold, while to the south-east we have descended on Chatham, Canterbury and Dover. There's been St Albans, Long Melford, Stanford and Ely to the north and heading southwards we've been to Rye, with a walk over the Romney Marshes, and Eastbourne. Westwards, speeding along the M4, we have invaded Windsor, Oxford, Lacock, Bristol and Bath. A trip to Guildford, and a walk around "the Devil's Punchbowl", also proved memorable. Suggestions for fresh destinations (and volunteers to lead walks once we've got there!) are always most welcome. In 2008 we made trips to Rye and Romney Marsh, Dunwich and Southwold. We visited Canterbury and the Colchester area in 2009. The Cheddar Gorge and Clacton are our outings in 2010. Seats for these outings are snapped up very, very quickly, so it's as well to apply without delay! For the first month from which a booking period commences, seats will only be available to members of the Group. At the end of that month - assuming there are still any vacancies - they can be made available to non-members. |
