We started in 1938 as an Epping Forest rambling club affiliated to HF Holidays Ltd, itself created in 1913.  Since that time, we have continued to enjoy our surrounding countryside and London Town.  Our aims are to provide a healthy enjoyment of leisure, to encourage the love of the countryside and appreciation of city environment, to organise rambling and other social and educational and cultural activities within a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Our walks are enjoyable at all times of the year and offer new views and scenery on every outing. Current (2009) membership stands at about 160.  Our weekly Sunday and public holiday walks are in the Epping Forest and London areas, also other places of interest. Our annual club holidays are popular and enjoyable, as are our bi-annual coach outings.  We usually spend a week classic walking at one of the HF country houses in the UK. Walking and sightseeing are optional and there are usually three grades of walks offered (easy, middling and hard). We meet socially once a month in Wanstead for quizzes, slide shows ,interesting talks on nature and local history.  Suggestions for further topics of interest are always welcome. We very much hope that, after visiting this website, you will be tempted to join us.  All ages, from 18 to 101, are welcome!
